1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

You're looking at a real-deal 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396, but this icon of American muscle has been enhanced even further with 454 big block power. So it's hard not to love an upgraded monster motor with four-on-the-floor contained and within that perfect red/black color combo pillarless hardtop. The way this car looks is no joke, and the investment in time and money is obvious everywhere you look. If you're a fan of the early Chevelle bodies, with its beautiful flying buttress C-pillars and subtle aggression, then this car should ring all the right bells. The shine of the red paint takes advantage of modern clearcoat paint. Underneath, the metalwork is quite good, featuring good gaps all around and leading to a deep shine that only comes from a lot of hard work. This was the first year for the Super Sport 396 as its own separate model, and this coupe wears its unique pieces with pride, including the blacked-out grille and tail, faux hood vents, ribbed lower trim panels, and even the 396 badging on the fender (more on that in a moment.) This SS396 is now more aggressive than its siblings from the factory, and so a great finishing touch is the set of 15-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels.Open the door, and you're greeted to handsome bucket seat interior with plenty of upgrades that perfectly captures this Chevelle's comfortable and performance dual-purpose nature. The seats, door panels, carpets, and headliner have that kind of fresh black appearance that makes us believe there was quite a nice investment in the interior. But this is far from a sea of darkness. There's plenty of shiny trim on the original-style steering wheel, long horizontal speedometer, and upgraded knob-style AM/FM/cassette stereo. Plus, you can't miss spotting the performance upgrades like the AutoMeter auxiliary gauges, large panel-mounted tach, and the cue ball shifter boldly protruding from the center console. So those SS badges say '396', but the truth is there's a 454 living under the hood. It looks fantastic in the engine bay with the shiny valve covers and air grabber. You have an easy view at the big, bold orange block thanks to the painted fenders and tidy wires and hoses. You'll understand why they say "there's no replacement for displacement" the moment you turn the key and hear the roar of long tube performance headers that feed the dual exhaust. You're in complete control of this monster motor and its symphony thanks to the four-speed manual transmission. So yes, this is the kind of pure intimidation machine that you've always admired at the car shows and cruise-ins.You can already imagine yourself cruising in this ultra-cool, first-year SS396 pillarless hardtop. It's the kind muscle car that's always in demand, so since you're not the only one who wants it, you might want to hurry up and call today!
