1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray CoupeYou are bidding on a 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe with the LS5 package. This is a Bill Of Sale car, Alabama doesn't keep titles for cars this old, so you will only get a Bill of Sale with the car. This Corvette is mostly original but unfortunately it does NOT come with the original 454 engine, the original engine was replaced with a 350 engine. It does not appear that the gas tank has ever been removed so the original build sheet is probably still on top of the gas tank. The original color of the car was Blue, but a previous owner painted it white. It is not that great of a paint job, looks decent from 20 feet away or going down the road, but it needs some love. I bought this car several months ago because I planned on doing a full restoration of the vehicle, but plans have changed and I really don't have the time. This is the perfect project car because you can actually drive it on day 1 and fix it up a little at a time. Or do a complete restoration on the car, it is an LS5, which is a pretty rare setup. The car is very solid, straight and it looks decent as well. This car is over 40 years old, so don't expect a new car, it needs plenty of attention, mostly cosmetic fiberglass work, but this would make a great restoration car. I've tried to take pictures of the underneath and the wheel wells to give you an idea of the condition of the car. I would encourage and welcome you to come see the car in person before you bid. If you can't see it in person, please ask as many questions as you would like to get an idea of the condition of the car. I'll do my best to represent the car as accurately as possible.
Performance wise, the car starts right up, drives straight and the power steering works great. The brakes are not that great but they do work. I installed a new master cylinder, but I'm assuming that the calipers will need to be replaced or the lines will need to be bled. The 400 turbo transmission shifts out nice as well. There is slight clunk when letting off the gas really fast, I've read that it is a rubber gasket that goes on the drive train, or something to that affect. The site made it seem like it wasn't a big deal, but I never looked into it.
Here are list of items and whether they are working or not:
Tires: Great condition, estimated 85% tread remaining
Exhaust: Original exhaust but sounds great!
Turn signals: Yes
Power Steering: Yes
Air Conditioning: No
Blower Motor: Intermittent
Brake Lights: Yes
Running Lights: Yes
Gauges: All gauges work except for the water temp gauge. The car does cool as it should though.
Power Windows: Yes, but windows are very slow
Glass: Appears to be all original glass.
Guys and Gals, I can't possibly describe every little detail of the car in this little box, so please ASK PLENTY OF QUESTIONS and better yet, come see it in person!!!
SHIPPING: I will ship the car but YOU have to make the arrangements and pay for it.
PAYMENT: $500 non-refundable deposit via PAYPAL at the end of the auction. The remaining can be paid with Paypal or Cash in person.
QUESTIONS: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ask questions, don't be surprised by anything, I'll be glad to answer them!!!!
On Jun-26-16 at 08:59:49 PDT, seller added the following information:
This is the last year of the front and rear chrome bumpers! It is also the last year of the removable rear glass. That combined with the LS5 package makes this a pretty unique car!
*ATTENTION* I will only ship this car within the United States. Sorry, the auction will not let me change it. Do not win the auction and then decide that it costs too much to ship the car, do your homework prior to bidding please! Thank you for all the questions and interest!
Thank you for all of the interest, I made a quick video today to give you a better idea of what you are bidding on. Enjoy!
The spots on the driveway in the pictures are from WATER from washing the car prior to taking the pictures. Please watch the video that I attached the following day, you will notice that the spots are gone. I will add, that I have noticed a few small oil drops on my garage floor from the oil pan gasket, but certainly nothing major. Keep the questions coming!!!
The reserve has been met!! Its a NO RESERVE auction from here on out, highest bidder wins! Please don't wait until the last minute to ask questions and good luck!!!!
DO NOT bid on this item and then message me and ask me to cancel the bid. Please show more respect to the sellers on ebay, it takes time and money to list items on here!!!!
One of the ebay bidders came by to check the car out today. I asked him: "Do you feel like the description of the car in the auction was accurate?" His response: "The car is exactly what I expected". Just thought I would share. Enjoyed meeting and talking with you Mike!
