1962 Chevrolet Impala Impala

Barn find. I am selling it because I just have too many projects going on right now. This would be a nice car to start with because you know what you are getting. I was told by the guy I bought it from that he bought the car from the daughter of the original owner. I have no way of proving that since I was unable to contact her. Original owner bought the car new from Vandergriff Chevrolet in Arlington Texas. The dealer tag is still on the trunk. He supposedly had the dealer repaint the car sometime in the 60's due to some flaws in the paint. You can still see the original black paint coming through in some areas and the original red primer. The car was pulled out of a barn in Irving Texas earlier this year and I have a picture of the car being removed from the barn upon request. The tires are dated from 1988 and still hold air. The car runs and drives great. I took it on a 250 mile trip with no issues. This is an original tuxedo black car code 900 on firewall. The door panels, headliners, sun visors, and the seat covers were redone years ago and the patterns are close. Carpet is original. All 4 t3 headlights work. Original 283 powerglide. Engine suffix is DK. I don't think the engine has been out. It runs great. No smoke. No knocks. Does not use oil. Compressor works but low on freon. Bottom of front right fender has rust starting to come through. The drivers side rear floor under the seat has some minor rust. I included a picture of therust. It's not that bad. PORwould fix it.Floor is strong and not soft. The left rear window seal leaked. Trunk looks brand new. The rear body mounts have no rust. Inner rockers and outer rockers are rust free. No rust doors or rear quarter panels. All the gaps are nice. Car has never been hit or torn apart. No bondo. Title is in my name. I replaced the gas tank, sending unit, rubber brake hoses, and the spark plugs. Believe it or not the car still has the original spark plug wires that still are routed under motor mounts. Power steering. Factory a/c and the tabs under the center vent are not broke. Doors close like a new car. They literally go, "click click". This car needs to be repainted as it is dull, peeling, touched up, and cracked. There is no bringing the paint back. Or you can drive it the way it is.The car islicensed and insured with a Texas title in my name.

Trim code on firewall is as follows:

874- red interior900- tuxedo black exterior4C- factory air conditioningEZI- factory tinted glass

This car has all of the original sheet metal. You can tell reproduction quarters from a mile away with the fat dog legs. The inside of the quarters inside the trunk are perfect. No signs of body work or anyone hammering out dents. The original spatter paint is in great shape.

On the dash to the left of the cigarette lighter, there is a black circular cap that appears to be glued to the dash. I am not sure what this is for. You can see it in the pictures. Also, the original owner added a temperature gauge and a driver's side mirror with a built in thermometer that still works.
