Description:

1970 Chevrolet Corvette

For sale is a 1970 Corvette Roadster, this is an original Big Block car. The car has undergone an extensive mechanical restoration during the past 10 years.
The installed engine is a GM ZZ502 crate engine. It uses a Holley 770 on top of an LS-6 manifold and stock air cleaner. The original number matching engine is currently in storage, needs rebuilding and is included in the sale.
The original Turbo 400 transmission was rebuilt to accommodate the ZZ502, the rear end was also rebuilt with 3.70 gears.
The rear spring, swing arms, u-joints, rear wheel bearings and drive-shaft u-joints have been replaced.
The front springs, ball joints, tie-rod ends, control arm bushings, steering box, power valve and idler arm have all been replaced. Front and rear aftermarket sway bars have been installed and make the car handle very well. The original sway bars are in storage and are included in the sale.
The cooling system components have all been replaced, aluminum radiator, fan, fan clutch, all hoses and belts.
The brake Master Cylinder, Brakes Hoses, Brake Booster have been replaced. All four calipers have been replaced with the upgraded Stainless Steel calipers.
This is an original Air Conditioned car, but I had not reinstalled the A/C components after the new engine was installed. All the original A/C components are in storage and these components are included in the sale.
This car was originally equipped with Delco transistorized ignition; all those components have been stored and are included in the sale.
The interior is all original, carpet, leather seats, dash board has no cracks as the car has spent most of its life indoors. The clock works; it is a licensed reproduction clock. All the gauges work, headlights work, windshield wipers and doors work, all the rubber vacuum hoses have been replaced.
The convertible top is original and I still have the warning tag. The car had the original hard top installed when I bought it and I discovered that the soft top had never been used.
The car is currently sporting period correct '70s fender flares, the rest of the body and paint is original. The wheels are U.S. Mag and the tires are Remington 50 series.
The odometer reads 73,218, and I bought the car with 49,645 miles, I believe the mileage to be correct because the interior shows minimal wear.
The paint on this Corvette is mostly original except where the fender flares were installed. The paint shows its age, there are stone chips and scratches so the original "Patina" is evident.
The car was something of a time capsule when I found it; an unmolested '70s period correct Corvette with original hardware. I guess you could call this car a bit of a survivor. Some car show attendees have told me that the car should be left as-is so the '70s look will be preserved. Hagerty values this Corvette model at $108,000 so it appears that this car has quite a bit of value. In 1970, Chevrolet only built 6,648 Corvette convertibles and a smaller number were Big Block 454 cars.
