THIS PAINSTAKING FULL RESTORATION WAS PERFORMED WITH MOSTLY OEM PARTS. THIS CAR WAS RESTORED WITH NO EXPENSE AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL.
1965 WAS A EXTRAORDINARY YEAR FOR THE CORVETTE STINGRAY I THINK IS THE CREME DE LA CREME OF ALL CORVETTES. THIS PAINT IS AWESOME AND BOASTS THE CORRECT 989 MM ON THE TRIM TAG OF MILANO MAROON AND 437 WITH PURE WHITE INTERIOR. WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR AND ALL THE LITES TURN ON ITS EASILY THE MOST IMPRESSIVE SITE YOU WILL EVER SEE!
THE 327 WAS TOTALLY REBUILT AND SOUNDS AMAZING AND PURRS LIKE A KITTEN.
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE LETTER FROM THE LAST OWNER AND SEE ALL OF HIS WORK. HE WAS A TINKERER LIKE ME AND TOOK THE TIME TO INSTALL THE NEW AFTERMARKET AM/FM AND THE CORVETTE EMBLEMED SOUND BAR WITH HDMI. HE ALSO INSTALLED THE NEW HEATER AND AC UNIT AND IT WORKS FLAWLESSLY! THERE ARE OTHER LITTLE IMPROVEMENTS TO MAKE THIS THE PERFECT DRIVER AND SHOW CAR. ALOT OF PEOPLE WILL LOOK AT THIS CAR AND GO ITS NOT A 4sp....TRUST ME AT THE AGE OF 61 I WOULD NEVER OWN A STICK AGAIN. PUT HER IN GEAR TURN UP THE TUNES THROW ON THE A/C AND TAKE ME TO BEACH!
OK LETS BE HONEST ABOUT HERE ABOUT "NUMBERS CORRECT" MID YEAR CORVETTES.... MOST OF THE CORRECT NUMBERED CORVETTE AREN'T ....NOT EVEN CLOSE! ANYBODY CAN STAMP A BLOCK AND INSTALL IN A MID YEAR, ANYBODY AND THEY HAVE!
MOST OF THE COLLECTOR CARS I HAVE WORKED ON ARE PONTIAC'S.
PONTIAC DIVISION CHOSE TO CAST BLOCK NUMBERS AND DATES MAKING THESE PARTS ABSOLUTE, UNFORTUNATELY CHEVY CHOSE TO STAMP THEIR BLOCKS, HENCE THERE ARE A LOT OF COUNTERFEIT NUMBERS MATCHING CARS. I KNOW THE CORVETTE WORLD WILL NOT APPRECIATE MY COMMENTS BUT THAT IS TRULY ACTUAL. BELOW IS A CURRENT POSTED CAR FOR SALE ON EBAY AND THEY ADMIT IN THE AD THE BLOCK HAS BEEN STAMPED!
I have owned this car since 1983 and it has about 59,000 miles on it. Completed a 7 year frame off restoration in 2009. Haven't driven the car more than once since. All numbers matching other than the block which is currently a 350 cid. I have a correct block for the car (350 hp 327 cid) which has been stamped with the serial number. I also have a set of dated coded correct heads. The other engine parts are dated coded correct and mounted in the car. It took years to assemble the parts which include:
I PERSONALLY WOULD NEVER STAMP A BLOCK BUT IT IS DONE ALL THE TIME. THIS CAR HAS A SERVICE REPLACEMENT BLOCK AND IS CORRECT FOR THE YEAR AND DATE OF BUILD. ALL OTHER PIECES IN THE DRIVELINE ARE CORRECT.
The interior is like a time machine and going back to 1967. It feels that fresh because the bucket seats, door panels, carpeting, dash, center console, and every other square inch inside this coupe either has been preserved to new condition or fitted with new components. It all feels factory-correct down to the big center clock that's still ticking away....
THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND ENGINE BAY ON THIS CAR LOOKS LIKE THE DAY IT ROLLED DOWN THE LINE IN ST LOUIS IN 1965.
I was unsure if i should ship this beautiful car from Canada to Atlanta or just drive her to Georgia so hit the border did the appropriate paperwork and said what the hell....off I went, 6 States, one province, the Appalachians Moutains through rain sleet and snow and the Corvette is the winner and made me very proud! This car drove like as if you just picked it up from the dealer in 1965. This truly was a adventure driving this 50 year old beauty down 75 I cant count how many waves, smiles and thumbs up I got. If you think it was cruel and unfair treatment to this to the old girl that would be wrong. I have a lift and the undercarriage of the car was thoroughly detailed, painted and cleaned and there is no residual road grime on her at all. This is testimony to the engineering and the careful time Dennis took to make everything like new. Please check out the photo of the dipstick after 1100 miles the oil is still clean as a whistle!
Check the pics of the car in Lexington Ky with snow on it and coming into the Appalachians. It took me 3 days to bring the ol vette back but I really had a great time. I am retired and was not in a rush and enjoyed every minute of my roadtrip. There is not surprises with this car and I can proudly say I would get in this car and drive to the west coast and not have a worry.
Everything is in perfect working order.The paint is flawless. If you’re looking for a mid-year Corvette which has been completely restored without having to incur the expense associated with a frame off restoration you have just found that car. The fit and finish is exactly what you want from a Sting Ray of this caliber.
