Retired from competition after it was deemed too fast with its7-second, 00-mph capabilities in the quarter - mile, t remains famous as the "World's Fastest 409."The Bel Air is powered by an engine custom-built by Lamar, ho bored and stroked it to a massive 484cubic inches and topped it off with custom-built Z-11 Style cylinder heads with lifter valley and intake. A 0.990-lift cam controls huge 2 1/2-inch intake valves. The engine was dyno-tested at 910 hp on racing gas, ith peak power at 9,200 RPM, riving a Lenco 4-speed and a Mark Williams 4.88:1 rear end. The Bel Air rides on a custom-build funny car chassis by Byrd of North Carolina, nd the car s certified to ETs as low as 7.5 seconds. "We always finished and qualified on the Top 5 at all of the events and were named in the Top 10 NMCA fastest for three years straight, th, th,and 3rd overall for the year.NMCA required a 25-mile drive before you could complete at their Finals in which the car always finished without a problem. At Super Chevy we won Gainesville, tlanta, ndy, nd were runner-up at Houston. The car was featured on Inside Drag Racing TV for the Super Chevy win in Atlanta, here we beat reigning NMCA champAnnette Summers.
