1954 Chevrolet Other Pickups

1954 Chevy Half Ton 3100 Series Pickup. Has the SUPER RARE factory Hydra-matic 4 speed automatic transmission. The Hydra-matic was first used by GM in the 1940 Oldsmobile and continued until the mid 60's in Cadillacs, uicks, ome Pontiacs and even by other car makers such as Lincoln, nbsp;Hudson, ackard, ambler and even Rolls Royce used this bullet proof transmission for some time. The military also used this transmission in heavy duty applications. Many a car race was won on drag strips in the 50's and 60's with the GM Hydra-matic transmission. Many GM old truck enthusiasts have never seen a Hydra-matic truck of this year due to the rarity. No one seems to know exactly how many 1954 Chevy trucks wereequipped with this transmission, ut likely less than a few thousand on the high end were equipped in 1954 with this gearbox. Ford had introduced the Fordamatic automatic transmission in their light duty trucks in 1953, o to meet the competition and demand GM used a time tested transmission that had already been in service since 1940 in their car lineup to equip the 1954 GM trucks. The G.M.C. trucks were also equipped with the Hydra-matic, nbsp;including the heavier 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks.
This truck has not ran in over 20 years. Currently does NOT run. Engine turns over easily by hand. Overall a very good rust free body. Lots of beautiful mother nature's patina. A deluxe 5 window cab. Has small scattered body damage, ut nothing that will not repair easily. The left cowl panel is the worst of body damage and this replacement panel is available through several after market sources. Both cab corners were replaced prior to my ownership with new cab corners. The complete floorboard area is solid. The transmission cover had a small area of rust that was also repaired. The bottom of both doors are solid as well as the lower cowl areas. This truck is mostly complete other than a few easy to find items that are listed below. The reason for selling is that I'm thinning my herd and will not likely get it finished anytime soon with other interest I have as well. Much work and parts have already been done. PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY AS I HAVE MADE EVERY EFFORT TO DESCRIBE CORRECTLY AND HONESTLY THE CONDITION OF THIS TRUCK!!!!
