Description:

1985 Cadillac Seville

This great-driving Caddy has brand new Hankook tires, brake pads, and brake rotors at all four wheels. When I put brakes on it I also flushed the brake fluid and changed the coolant. It also has a new alternator and several other new little parts to ensure it passed emissions (smog) testing without any problems. This is my 8th Cadillac and I've ensured it's ready to take road trips just like all the others I've owned. It drives fantastic. Because it has been garaged its whole life and only has about 85k miles on it, all the suspension bushings, body mounts, door and trunk seals, etc. are still soft and compliant. That means it rideswonderfully smooth and quiet, whether you are in traffic or sailing on the highway at 75mph.

Also because it lived in a garage, the leather interior is still super soft and comfortable. The carpets are in great shape. It has new floor mats and a new headliner. All power features (seats, locks, all windows, trunk release, trunk pull-down, etc etc) work fine except for the power antenna. Cruise control is not working. The rear load leveling suspension works perfectly whether the car is empty or loaded. Climate control(A/C and heat) works perfectly--itkeeps the car comfortablein summer, winter and rain.

This is a late 1985 Seville, which (for anyone who knows or cares aboutthese uniquecars) means that it has the updated HT4100 V8 engine with the revised engine block casting to eliminate block porosity and other issues that the early 4.1L Sevilles had. This car has had the GM-Delco cooling system sealer added as required through the years and has also had the intake manifold gaskets replaced (another weak point of earlier engines). That means this car is good for the long haul. It is a great road trip cruiser. It doesn't leak any oil or coolant, and the oil stays clean between changes. No unusual engine or transmission noises. The engine runs smoothly at all RPMs and pulls strong as it should (though these engines weren't known for their power output). The transmission shifts beautifully, and the torque converter clutch locks up as it should. Transmission pan is seeping a little--it drips occasionally. The best part about this powertrain is that it averages a fantastic18mpg in mixed driving andalways does 24-26mpg on the highway at 70mph. It has a new exhaust catalyst and muffler. No check engine lights or warning lights on; it's ready to drive and enjoy. All the taillighting and marker lighting is LED.

This was the last year for this bustle-back body style, which was a final farewell design of legendary GM stylist Bill Mitchell. The paint was redone probably 15 years ago, and it is marginal. It shines up just fine as you can see in pics, but there is some cracking and pitting where the original paint was failing underneath. This is primarily on the rear quarter panels. But there'sabsolutely nobody rust or crash damage. Only the usual surface rust on chassis componentsunderneath. There's a small dent on the top of the right front fender where the bozo smog technician dropped a hose on it. Otherwise the car's very straight with just minor nicks and scratches and dings from daily use. Some paint scratchtouchup here and there.

Only a couple issues buyer should be aware of: The body fillers are the new replacement fiberglass type, and they are actuallypainted the correct GMcolor code...unfortunately the car was not repainted in a perfect match to the factory color years ago, so in the sunlight you can see a color tone difference if you are looking--but it's not obscene. I was not able to have the interior sunvisors reupholstered whenI did the headliner, so they look a littlescruffy against a bright white headliner. But I have plenty of leftover material that will come with the car to have them done. There's a small 1/8" hole in the leather on the top of the rear seatback (passenger side up near back window) but otherwise the leather is great. The upper grille pediment (on the hood) has a hole drilled in it for some reason...I tried to capture a good photo.

Otherwise it doesn't need anything. Just enjoy it. A couple sidenotes: The center console I built for the front seat does take up the unique flat floor (boo hoo) but the cupholders, satellite radio and USB ports sure go a long way...but if you are a diehard FWD Cadillac enthusiast I will remove it before shipping the car--it is not a permanent installation and can be removed without any damage/alteration to the car. The wood on the console is real. Sound system is excellent original Delco.

I'm happy to assist with shipping arrangements and highly recommend you come to take a test drive. Just contact me to schedule. Title is clear and in my name, and the car is currently registered and smogged through next summer.

If you buy this car, plan to have it paid for within 7 days and shipped within 2 weeks of auction close--if you fail to do these things I'll terminate the transaction; I'm not in the auto storage business. However, with that said--I know it's Christmas time--if you want to wait to have it shipped until after New Years that's fine--but you'll need to have complete payment made on timeplease.
