1959 Cadillac Series 62 Restored

1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Black/Red Restored

There are few cars that offer such distinctive styling and represents an era in American auto design the way that the 1959 Cadillac Series 62 convertible does. With it's towering fins and bomb-shaped taillamps balanced by it's low slung body with tapered lines, the '59 Series 62 has become coveted by Cadillac collectors and collectors of American classic cars alike. VIN # is 59F096142.

This car benefitted from a frame on cosmetic restoration which was completed in September of 2007 and it has only been driven very sparingly since then. Mileage shows 44,000 which appears to be correct but cannot be confirmed.

During the restoration, the car was painted in a 2 stage urethane paint. In October 2008, the car was again wet sanded and buffed to an incredible shine. This car is very straight and show worthy. A tall statement for such a large car.

When I last viewed the car, it presented beautifully. The car had been waxed and buffed by a professional detailed for 6 hours until the black paint looked deep and rich. The new red leather interior showed flawlessly (by the way, black is the original color of this car). The glass was pristine and the chrome was shining. The car looked very well cared for and was a pleasure to photograph. The pictures really speak very clearly about the overall condition of the car.

The owner has also rebuilt the top half of the motor, carb etc. The car started and drove smoothly on the day that I saw it. No smoke or hesitation whatsoever. It is a very strong driving and shifting car.
