Cadillac was still known as The Standard of the World in the early 1970s and MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present a reason why - this 1972 Cadillac Sedan de Ville land yacht! This particular example was built during the fifth week of May 1972 at Cadillac's Linden, New Jersey factory and is reportedly a two-owner car, being sold on an actual milage title showing 40,xxx.

Dressed in Cognac Metallic (code 69), with a full, brown, cross-grained padded vinyl roof, (code R), the car's paint and trim in overall very good order but there are some area showing minor blemishes upon close inspection. The glass panels are in very good condition, clear and crack-free. The car's lights, in particular its signature slim, vertical tail-lamps, are haze-free and in fine shape. This Cadillac rolls on whitewall tires, with full wheel covers at each corner.

All of its body panels are straight, including the vinyl roof mentioned earlier. The trunk is in very good condition and contains the original jack and original full-sized spare tire with tire cover to match the trunk floor covering. The engine bay is very tidy, the battery appears new and the bumpers look great.

Under that wide hood is Cadillac's 472 CID V-8 engine, which was the standard de Ville mill until 1975. Here, the 472 uses a Rochester Quadra-Jet carburetor and is backed by a Turbo Hydramatic 400 three-speed automatic transmission and a 2.93:1 rear end. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning, (however the compressor is inoperable), power steering, power brakes, power windows, power door locks and remote trunk release. All other power accessories work as designed.

Inside, the car Medium Maize Majesty cloth and leather interior (code 344) is overall good order but the driver's seat shows some wear and some splits in the cloth. The matching carpeting is in similar good overall condition, while the tan headliner looks great and the earth-toned instrument panel is in one piece and looks good. This model also uses GM's Vigilite fiber-optic warning monitoring system that alerts the driver if any exterior light bulbs have burned out. The three-spoke steering wheel, inner door panels, mirror glass and shift lever are all in good order. Rounding out the interior is a factory AM/FM radio.

In 1972, a modest frontal revision placed more emphasis on horizontal grille blades. The parking lamps were moved from the bumper to between the square-bezel headlamps, which were now set wider apart. New standard features included a bumper impact system, automatic parking brake release, passenger assist straps and flow- through ventilation system. New DeVille signature script was affixed to the sides of the rear roof panels and V-shaped emblems made a return on hood and deck lid.

Competition to this Cadillac in 1972 included Bentley's T, Chrysler's Imperial LeBaron four-door hardtop, Lincoln's Continental Sedan and Mercedes-Benz's 450 SE Sedan.

This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 40,435 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, Actual mileage title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
