1953 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible
The 1953 Series 62 saw a redesigned grille with heavier integral bumper and bumper guards, the repositioning of parking lamps directly under the headlights, chrome "eybrow" type headlamp doors, and one piece rear windows without division bars. Wheel discs were fashioned in an attractive new disced design. Series 62 bodystyles were identified by non louvered rear fenders, the use of thin bright metal underscores on the bottom rear of the cars only and the decoration of both hood and deck lid with Cadillac crests and V- shaped ornaments.
A massive fire that destroyed GM's Hydra-Matic plant in Livonia, Michigan on August 12, 1953 left the corporation and the three divisions that used this transmission scrambling for other sources of automatic transmissions to complete that year's model year production. As a result, Oldsmobiles and Cadillacs during the downtime were assembled with Buick's Dynaflow transmission.
This Series 62 convertible has been treated to an extensive ground up restoration. The paint is near flawless and extensive restoration was doen on the chrome trim and bright work. The interior has been re-stiched in original type pattern and features Cadillac amenities such as power windows, seat and convertible top. The 160 hp, 331 cu in overhead valve V-8 has been rebuilt and features the ultra rare Dynaflow transmission. Power steering and brakes are also options on this car. Other mechanical refurbishing includes recent front suspension alignment. This Cadillac is presented nicely with Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels and wide white wall tires.
It has AACA and Cadillac LaSalle Club Senior Awards during the 2005/2006 show seasons, and extensive receipts and service records.
At our dealership we work very hard to accurately describe our vehicles through text descriptions and elaborate photos. When you purchase a pre-owned vehicle it is not a new vehicle. Any used vehicle can have normal wear and blemishes. Before placing a bid please read the descriptions thoroughly and view all pictures.
