Description:

1962 Cadillac DeVille

This auction is for a 1962 Cadillac Convertible that is a nice original car with one repaint in the original ebony black. It is from the factory an ebony black paint, red leather interior and white top car! This Cadillac gets looks everywhere it goes. The carruns and drives nicely and does well at highway speeds. It has the original 390/325HP enginethat starts right up every time mated to a 4 speed hydromatic transmission. The interior is in good shape too for being all original, it could use a new carpet, but that is all. The top goes up and down as it should and only has a small seam split on the left rear. The paint is nice and glossy but has its flaws, it is a nice driver quality paint with bubbles, chips, scratches and small dents here and there. The car has had some rust issues addressed in the past that are coming back again, as in therockers and lower quarters have had patches done that are showing. Structurally the car isgood and all the other sheet metal on the car is straight, solid and rust free.It had a good heavy undercoating early in its life that saved the floor and trunk pans. The chrome and stainless are in good shape with the exception of the rear bumper, the lower center has a small rust hole in it about the size of a nickel. Also, the trunk still has all the original spare tire and jack equipment along with the original red convertible top boot. All the glass is in good shape and the electric windows work well. The 6 way power front seatoperates nicelyand everything else works except for a few items listed below. These finned convertibles are going up in value fast, get this one while they are still affordable! Don't miss out on a chance to own this black beauty!

A mild face lift characterized Cadillac styling trends for 1962. A flatter grille with a thicker horizontal center bar and more delicate cross-hatched insert appeared. Ribbed chrome trim panel, seen ahead of the front wheel housings in 1961, were now replaced with standard cornering lamps and front fender model and series identification badges were eliminated. More massive front bumper end pieces appeared and housed rectangular parking lamps. At the rear tail lamps were now housed in vertical nacelles designed with an angled peak at the center. A vertically ribbed rear beauty panel appeared on the deck lid latch panel. Cadillac script also appeared on the lower left side of the radiator grille. Standard equipment included all of last year’s equipment plus remote controlled outside rearview mirror, five tubeless black wall tires, heater and defroster and front cornering lamps. Cadillac refined the ride and quietness, with more insulation in the floor and behind the firewall.
