1972 Buick Skylark Custom

If you're not driving a vintage Buick, we have only one question: why not? Cars like this 1972 Buick Skylark Custom are affordable V8 fun that deliver more luxury, more comfort, and just as much performance as a comparable Chevelle, all for thousands less. Look around and I doubt you'll find a cleaner and more affordable A-body with factory A/C than this! The bright finish in this Buick is the correct code 21 Crystal Blue, and we... have to admit that we love the look on this car. With the bright white vinyl top, it has a very upbeat look that's still grown-up, perfect for the sporting Buick. Styling was always Buick's strongpoint, and the dramatic sweeping crease that runs through the fenders, doors, and quarter panels is designed to emulate the "sweep-spear" styling of the 1940s and '50s. It really works well here, especially with clean, straight bodywork that doesn't let any ripples or misaligned panels get in the way of the look. For a Buick, there's a minimal amount of trim, which was optional, letting the clean, nicely restored bodywork speak for itself. Both bumpers fit well with nice chrome, and it's kind of nice to see that they didn't bother to try to dress this one up as a fake GS or something like that. Twin chrome strips down the flanks give it an upscale look and all the stainless trim has been buffed up to look great. You won't find many of these that have been treated as well as this one has. The code 141 blue vinyl-cloth combo interior has a lot of new pieces and a few original bits, all combining to make a comfortable, inviting driving environment. The blue upholstery is complemented by a blue carpet and dashboard, so it's classically uniform, and with plenty of plush cushions inside those big bench seats, it's easy to get comfortable in the big Buick. There's wood applique on the door panels and steering wheel that adds a touch of sophistication to the cabin, and the original gauges in the three pods in front of the driver are accompanied by three auxiliary units to further monitor the engine's vitals. The secondary controls are also adorned with wood applique and it's nice to see that the A/C is fully functional with modern R134a refrigerant inside. There's a modern AM/FM/CD/iPod compatible stereo head unit under the dash and it was neatly installed so nothing was cut or mangled, and we love that the original AM unit was left in its stock spot for a factory-correct look. There's also a big trunk that's tidy and clean and has plenty for room for all your car show goodies. Buick's 350 cubic inch V8 is all about torque, and this one with its upgraded four-barrel carburetor is a fantastic runner that's a smooth and easy driver even under modern conditions. It's pretty original, with Dante Red paint on the block and a big snorkeled air cleaner up top, and the presentation is neat and tidy. The motor fires to life with ease thanks to the HEI ignition, the A/C system is newer, and the Skylark has a nice V8 rumble from the Flowmaster dual exhaust system. A 200R4 overdrive automatic transmission was the most popular choice in the Skylark, which really is a luxury car first and a sporty car second, and with highway-friendly gears out back, you can cruise for hours without feeling fatigued. Underneath you'll find an upgraded rear sway bar and air shocks, and the suspension is supple, the power steering is smooth, the power brakes are responsive, and with white-letter BFGoodrich 235/70/15 radials on original Buick Road Wheels, it looks great and handles beautifully. You get a lot of car for your money with vintage Buicks, and this Skylark is a great example. Come in and take it for a drive; we promise you'll love Buick's take on the familiar A-body. Call now!
