Buick first used the Special name in 1936, he year that their numerical series numbers were replaced with actual names. The Special continued as Buick’s most popular option in 1939, ith newly revised body work that was incredibly handsome. Despite this fact, he show stealer in 1939 was the Harley Earl-designed Y-Job, rguably the industry’s first concept car and one that broadcasted the future design language of Buick. This car helped to boost sales in 1939 to 231,219 units, f which most were Series 40 Special cars. Of these, he four-door Convertible Phaeton proved to be the rarest body style in 1939 and only 830 were built, f which 724 were for domestic and 106 were exported. Today their trunk-back design combined with the split windshield, nd one of the greatest front ends of all time, as made these not only rare but very collectible!

We are very excited to offer this 1939 Buick Special 41C Convertible Phaeton! This Flint, ichigan-built car is finished in its factory data tag correct color of 530 – Black over Red leather upholstery. This 41C is powered by its original, equence-correct Dynaflash 248ci Inline 8 making 107 horsepower and mated to a standard 3-Speed Handi-Shift column-mount manual transmission and to the ground via a 3.9:1 rear end. Options on the car include a full leather interior, ual side-mount spares with hard covers, ual side-view mirrors, olished rear fender rock guards, ront and rear bumper guards, xhaust turndown, indshield defrost, hift lever turn signals and more! The car rides on 16” red steel wheels with “Buick” hubcaps, rim rings and 6.50-16 Firestone Deluxe Champion gum-dipped wide whitewall tires!

Upon closer inspection, ne will quickly notice that nearly every component of the car, op to bottom, as been brought to look like new. The restoration, ompleted 2014, as done to include paint, hrome, eather, alnut-look dash, oor sills, onvertible top and frame, ll pot metal and more! The car appears arguably better than it ever could have dreamed in 1939, ith tight panel gaps and exceptionally slick black paint. In addition, he black exterior/red interior is a classic combination that has proven to be timeless in large convertibles. Underneath, lmost all suspension, teering and brake components have been swapped for new. We are making no claims to the mileage but this is a true investment grade Buick and one that certainly has a commanding presence. In addition, his car is body number nine of 830 total built for the year (including 106 for export). Interestingly, he car still wears the previous year’s 40C designation as a result of its early production. We would invite any interested parties to call with additional questions! Thanks for looking!
