The 1971 GS is unique mechanically as well, from the factory, the 1971 GS motor is a factory modified high performance 455, 4bbl, full out fast without any horsepower restraints, which all the later year models have due to the gas shortage climate beginning at that time. The 1971 Riviera GS also has the original Excellence of Design, the Grille, Bumpers, Tail lights and the ventilation Trunk Deck Louvers are all beautifully done. The 1971 GS standard factory features are a beefed up suspension, performance axle with a positive traction differential (limited slip) and a full rear stabilizer bar. 0-60 time of 8.1 seconds for the 1971 GS as reported when new.
