Description:

1980 Buick LeSabre Custom

ONE OF A KIND CUSTOM 1980 BUICK!!!455 OLDS ROCKET WELL BUILT
ORIGINAL OWNER INHERITED TO SON.
455 Olds Rocket bored to 463. 9.50 Compression with Federal Mogul Pistons. Motor was assembled, balanced, and blueprinted by Wheeler Racing. Has Edelbrock cam and intake. 773 Quadrajet carburetor and HEI Ignition. Exhaust has Hedman Long Tube headers to 2 1/2 inch pipe. The exhaust was re-done from the headers to the rear axel bend, it was not done professionally and has flex pipe and clamps. It is just fine as is but would fit the build better if redone with matching tubing and welds. Transmission is a B&M Turbo 400 with a 2400RPM Stall converter and a Megashift Ratchet shifter. The rear end is a built GM 10 bolt with 3.42 gears and Eaton Posi Limited slip locker. The motor, transmission, and rear end are all strong and healthy. The car drives outstanding, goes down the road straight and smooth. It is a easy car to handle but the tires will break loose in 1st through low 2nd gear if the pedal is put to the floor. I have a very large folder of receipts dating back to the early 90's for work done including all the performance work, maintenance, and upholstery. The car has great pride taken in it and is well maintained.Very few miles have been put on each year and has been kept in a indoor dry climate. I would rate the overall health and drivability of the car a solid 10. It rides like a boat and stings like a bee!! The interior is in amazing shape, The seats are all custom upholstered with black velvet. The dash is flawless as well as all the gauges and wood grain. There are no stains in the seats or carpet, Neither even show wear. Windows are tinted 20 % and glass is all good and sealed. The inside of the car has been insulated as well as the lining of the trunk. The exhaust sounds great and turns heads but keeps a comfortable sound level inside. The headliner is in good shape but it sags in a few spots and has been fixed with pins. No issues with it as is. The speedometer isn't currently working to needing a new speedo cable. A phone with a speedo and heads up display has been being used. I would rate the interior 9.5 due to the headliner and speedometer.
The paint was done professionally, wet sanded and buffed. You can see your reflection perfectly in the clear coat, you won't find a deeper black paint job. It is an older paint job so its starting to show its age. The roof has some fading and there are what appears to be tree sap spots on the hood. On the passenger side rear window sill there is a small spot of the paint pealing. The trim pieces between the top and the sheet metal are currently off because of being loose, they should be back on before the point of sale. All the sheet metal is all solid and it is NOT a body filler car. Underneath is all solid as well. There are no issues with rotting!! All chrome is in good shape. The plastic filler pieces between the bumpers and body have broke in a few spots over the years. They haven't been fixed due to being such a low profile piece it hasn't been an issue. The headlights have aftermarket black translucent covers that can be put on, I personally prefer with out the covers. Over all the car looks outstanding! due to the few minor blemishes I would give the outside a 8.5.
This isn't grandpas Buick anymore, the car is the perfect balance of luxury and muscle! Theres no such thing as creaks, rattles, or road noise riding in the Buick. SMOOTH LUXURIOUS POWER!! Its ready for the new owner to turn the key and go. There is more than $10,000 invested into the motor and drivetrain of the car. Please bid only if you are serious. I reserve the right to cancel a bid or end the auction for local sale. Please feel free to ask questions or come to see the car in person.
