1937 Bentley 4.25 Liter Drop Head Coupe BEAUTIFUL, AUTHENTIC AND ULTRA RARE

This GORGEOUS 4.25 Liter Bentley DHC (Drophead Coupe) has, until just recently, spent it's entire life in Europe. It has great provenance dating back to an early owner, the Royal Earl of Tweeddale Scotland. Mechanically superb, benefiting from a recent install of a superior all-aluminum deturbulated cylinder head and related internal components made by Fiennes Restoration in England (February 2016). This fine motorcar is swift and a pleasure to drive, operating at a constant temperature of 73 d...egrees Celsius (163 degrees Fahrenheit). The dashboard and all the gauges have been restored. Its factory original color combination of ivory and black (the paint and interior are approximately 20 years old present remarkably well). There are no disappointments here. We're selling the car on consignment and its owner only owns the finest cars (this one certainly falls in this category). Over the past 4 months, well over $60,000 was spent on the following: -New re-plated radiator shell and core replacement. As well as all correct hoses and clamps throughout. The calostat, which controls the radiator shutters, was also replaced with new. -Repainted the air cleaner and replaced all the related fittings. Replaced the spark plugs, rotor, points and distributor cap and changed out all the fluids. -Installed a new correct, more efficient deturbulated aluminum cylinder head and all accompanying internal parts. This car runs like a Swiss watch. -Brand new chrome wheels hex caps (5) and chrome wheel weight covers(15) and repainted the spare tire cover and running boards. The entire car was then professionally buffed to a high gloss. -Replaced front carpet and leather in the back seat. Even the door panels are leather in this car. -Replaced the oil pump and the water pump with correct rebuilt original factory parts. The oil pump is the high performance version. -Undercarriage was professionally cleaned and then highly detailed. -Replaced the light bulbs throughout, and yes, the spotlight works. In 1937, Bentley was owned by Rolls-Royce, and their vehicles were made at the Rolls plant in Derby England. As a result, they are referred to as Derby Bentleys. These cars were available in two inline 6 engine sizes: 3.5 Liter and 4.25 Liter. This car is equipped with the more desirable 4.25 version, allowing high performance levels of speed. It's equipped with a four speed transmission and is a lot faster than you'd expect (it cruises comfortably down the highway at 75MPH)! The car comes with four manuals: a 3" thick new Technical Repair and Assembly Manual, new Small Power Engines including the 4.25 Liter Bentleys by Rolls Royce, Original factory Bentley Owner's Manual for 1937 and the original factory Bentley Handbook. The original rear luggage rack is also included with the directional and switch (which do work). Please note that trying to photograph an ivory car is difficult. Most of the photos make the car appear to be white. However, it's ivory (a gorgeous correct Bentley color). Many Derby Bentleys have been painted in what many would consider to be very undesirable color combos. This car's owner wanted a period correct, attractive and mechanically sound car that he wouldn't have to re-paint. This one was exactly what he was looking for (he liked it so much that he spent thousands of dollars having it shipped here from Europe). In September of this year, it was invited to participate in the Ephraim Hill Climb & Rally in Door County Wisconsin. An invitation only event at which it sat alongside some of the finest cars in the world. It ran the course three times with flawless operation and surprising performance. It also took the People's Choice Award at the Sunday Concours. As most Bentley enthusiasts know, it's common to see DHCs that are converted from sedans and other models (rebodies). This is a REAL DEAL factory DHC that has correct 1937 components [body (coach builder - Park Ward), chassis (#B57KU) and engine (#Z6BM)]. This is the perfect car for someone who wants a mechanically sound vehicle that's ready to show, cruise around in or even race at nostalgic events. As mentioned above, the paint and interior are in good overall condition. Please let us know if you're the type who prefers perfection as we have a talented team of restoration experts who can apply new paint and refurbish the interior in a couple months.
