1949 Austin Atlantic A90

Up for sale is this VERY rare 1949 Austin Atlantic Model A90! This is a project car that has not been run for years, and will need a lot of work, but will be well worth the restoration. I'll have many more pictures up this weekend for this 10-day auction!
Only 350 Austin Atlantics were exported from England to the US between 1949 and 1952. England was doing everything they could to increase exports to bring money into the country, which had been ravaged by war in the early 1940's. This is why the cars coming to the US were engineered with left hand steering, and not the right hand traditional British types. Originally thought to be able to compete with the Cadillacs of the day, it was clear to most Americans that when it arrived, the Atlantic feel far short of that goal for many reasons, including the fact that the Atlantics sported a 4 cylinder engines versus the popular 8 cylinder engines in its American counterparts. Despite that, the engine produce about 88 hp and reached speeds of 91 mph in testing when it arrived in the states.
You can get much more info on its history by Googling "Austin Atlantic" and checking the Wikipedia reference.
By some estimates, there are less than 10 of these cars left in the US today, although there is still an active following in Asia, Europe and Australia. In fact, you can still veen find some parts for these in Ebay Australia and Ebay England. The basics to get the car running, rolling, stopping and driving appear to be there. However, aesthetically, you'll have your work cut out for you.
But I will say, restoring this car would allow you to have one of the rarest British cars left in America!
