Description:

1960 Austin Healey Sprite Bugeye ex-SCCA Race Car Vintage

This 1960 Bugeye was last raced by John O’Malley in SCCA/ Midwestern Council. If you look it up online you’ll see that this is the car John set a track record with at Gingerman in 1996.

Here’s the part that will please all of you purists: It is still a 948! Albeit a very well hot-rodded 948 with a serialized Comptune head, omptune carbs, ne of those super great 3-into-1 collector "ray gun" headers you haven’t been able to get in decades and all of the tricks but still a 948. Gearbox is a ribcase with unknown gear set. Front disc brakes. Lever shocks all around. Welded diff.

This is as close to a time capsule SCCA Bugeye as you'll find, ust a super cool old race car. It last ran in HP. Has small flares and both a super lightweight fiberglass bonnet (fitted) and the original steel bonnet (pictured) painted at the same time as the car that can easily be swapped back on. Awesome vintage mags. ATL cell. Really nice straight tub and neat old "race" paint job with great patina. Nice stout cage and side impact protection.

Not raced in years as noted so I’d certainly suggest a full prep but it runs great, as great oil pressure, ulls very hard, nd shifts great. I just terrorized my neighborhood a few weeks ago with it, n fact. Has fresh fluids, resh race gas but again needs a full prep to be sensible about it.

My wife and I both race front-running Bugeye Sprites in vintage with the VSCDA and SVRA but after having this one "on the shelf" for about 7 years it is quite clear we aren't getting around to working a 3rd car into the program anytime soon in spite of our best intentions.

Please note this is a RACE CAR not suitable for street use in current tune or trim and is being sold on a BILL OF SALE with NO TITLE. I also do not have a log book as the previous owner lost it but I am certain there is an SCCA number on the rollbar so you can get an SCCA logbook or I am happy to assist in getting a VSCDA logbook for the new owner.

The car is located in Milwaukee, isconsin in a heated, ell-lit sparkling clean shop with a hoist and inspections welcome anytime during the auction. I'm also happy to email additional photos of anything you want to see just for the asking.

Thanks for looking.
