1961 Rambler 400 Convertible, nice classic ragtop. Very nice well preserved 'Garage King' Rambler ragtop. Older full restoration with paint, top, and interior. I would rate it 'talented amateur'. Color is 'teal', which looks either blue or green depending on angle and lighting, interior is two-tone blue, tan top. Texas car (has clear open Texas title), never left outside, so NO rust or rot, body isnice andstraight, never hit or repaired, no hail damage, no bondo or fiberglass, no rotten floorboards or other usual problem areas. Rockers, side panels, floor pans, trunk floor, etc. solid with only very minor normal surface crud. Bumpers & trim nice with some of the usual finish peeling to body trim, and some minor bends/dings on a couple interior pieces from normal usage. Does not have trunk locking mechanism. Old repaint is nice & clean, only two chips that I can find (circled in photos), and those are minor. It rained some of that gold old Texas mud rain just before photos taken, but paint polishes up nicely and looks good. Upholstery & carpet is decent with no tears or holes, and top has no tears and clear rear window. I have never had top down, so do not know if the automatic lowering system works, but all the components appear to be there. No tonneau or cover. Basically car is a nice looking driver like it is, but not a show winner. Was in long storage before I got it and needed the usual tinkering to get it running again, but could use some more TLC to be a reliable driver, or would be an excellent candidate for a futurerestoration. It is also very dirty and 'grungy' for storage, and would look 100% better with a good polish and cleaning, just haven't had the time as just got it back from the mechanic a few days ago. Good newer tires, brakes work fine, starts and runs strong. No pings, clattering, backfiring, etc. and no smoking exhaust or water dripping from exhaust pipe even in humid weather. The air filter for the carburetor has gone missing, but if I can find it I'll put it back on, but can't guarantee it. Has aftermarket gauges under dash, and all seem to work except for gas gauge (typical). Odometer is at approx. 59,000, but no way to know if correct or not, but based on overall condition it could be close. Headlights and tail lights have nice clear clean lenses with no sun fading. Has original generator & 6 volt system.Recent work includes new gas tank, water pump, fuel pump, cooling fan, and misc. small stuff. Will provide records of all work done; by local well known mechanic. He was unable to find the correct mounting for the gas tank, so a metal plate was bolted to floor of trunk to support it, but only 'damage' is four small bolt holes. Trunk floor pan was not chopped up or altered. Car runs nice and is drivable like it is, but could use some more tinkering to make it a more reliable driver if you intended any road trips. Do not expect to be able to drive it home if you live any distance away, it is an old car! I bought thisRambler to be my last classic ride, but circumstances have made that impractical, so I will reluctantly pass it along to a new owner who will hopefully love it as much as I do. You just don't see these nice old Rambler ragtops in this nice a condition anymore. I've tried to describe it to the best of my abilities as don't want any 'unexpected surprises' for the new owner, but if you have any questions will do my best to answer them too. Good luck bidding, you won't be disappointed.
