Description:

1972 AMC Javelin AMX

This is a verysolid and desirable Z code AMX that is ready for restoration. I purchased the car in 2015 with the intention of doing a complete restoration and have started another project and lost interest in this one. It was a running, driving car when I purchased it. I brought it home, drove it around the block andthen started taking it apart.
The car spent most of it'slifein northern CA and therefore is prettysolid. Floors, fenders, doors, hood, rockers (inner and outer), fender troughs are perfect. Addressable issues are in the rear of thecar in the lower quarter panels(common on these cars) and in the trunk. There are two or three very small areas less than a square inch in floor pan that have been cut andtrimmed for repair. The worst is the area where the staggered shock mount is which appears to bedamaged from an air shock blow out not rust. I havegood sheet metal from donor cars that goes with the car for the repairs.
This is a very desirablecar when done as it is a true black on blaceAMX with the Z code 401 and other good options including A/C, PS, Tilt, Automatic. Looks like it originally had an electric rear window defroster but the switch and controls are gone. The car was originally a triple black car with a black vinyl top. I have the top trim if you desire to restore to orginal. The car is 99.9% complete as far as I know and in fact have many extra parts that I have been collecting for the restoration.Chrome and bumpers are very niceas well as the AMX cowl hood and the ultra hard to find grilltub and screen. The tub is perfect except for two of the mounting tabs are broke. These two parts alone are worth $1500-2000. The factory rally wheels are very nice with what appears to be new tires mounted to them. Again, the wheels are worth $1500.
I have had the seats front and rear re-upholstered with Legendary vinyl at a cost of $1500. The rest of the interior is in excellent shape including the dash pad, gauge cluster etc. In fact Ipurchased a NOS tach for the instrument cluster. Alsoyou will get new underhood wiring purchased from one of the AMC vendors. Lots of extra parts to gowith the car.I don't know exactlyhow much I spent on parts but I would guess it is in excessof $3000 in various stuff.
The engine is complete and now apart sitting at my enginebuilders shop where I dropped it off a year ago. Hasn't been touched so thatis the way you will get it. It wasrunning and driving when Ipulled the drivetrain. The engine is disassembled to the short block and I have all engine accessories including power steering, A/C components, pulleys, etc that go with it.Everything that was removed from the car was put into plastic storage containers andfasteners bagged and stored.
All said youwill be getting a very desirable model of AMC's vintage muscle andworth every bit of $30K when done. You have a head start on the restoration with the car being disassembled. I put the fenders, hood and doors back on thecar for shipping purposes. I will also be happy to re-install the engine short block for shipping if you request. The rest of the parts will likely fit inside thecar for shipping.Obviously the car is inoperable so PLEASE take this into account when you get yourshipping estimates. My zip is 77354. I have listed the car for way less thanwhat I have in it (orginal purchase plus parts) and believe theprice isvery fair. I am offering a best offer optionand reasonable offers will be considered.Offers below a certain value will be automatically rejected and no I don't want to reveal what that number is.I don'treally need to sell the carbut couldusesome space and yes the funds would be nice to have to finish another project. Anyquestions will be answered in a timely fashion through the ebay system. Thank you for taking a look at my car.
