1951 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super SportThis car represents the grandest of fast touring cars from one of the most romantic automotive eras. Picture yourself driving around Lake Como, the motor singing, the warm reflections of the water and villas gleaming off the exquisite paint. The coachwork catches the eye of all passers by, you cut a dashing figure as you zoom past. Sunglasses on, the car eager to go faster, ehxaust barking its intentions. Well, that is exactly how the current owner used this car. It was shown at the 2017 Concorso d' Eleganza, Villa d' Este and has been a ticket into the most prestigious automotive events around the world.
This particular 6C 2500 (chassis no. 915922) is of Super Sport designation. It rides on a 12" shorter chassis, has three Weber carburetors (engine no. 928329) and a higher compression ratio, raising output to 110hp. Just 383 Super Sports were built, and is the very last Cabriolet commissioned.
This car underwent a painstaking, multi-year nut and bolt restoration by the Luzzago Brothers in Brescia, Italy. Alfa Romeo authority Raoul San Giorgi consulted on all aspects of its authenticity as well as verification of the original engine and chassis numbers. This car is exquisite in every detail and is as beautiful as the photos show. Photo documentation of the restoration is available.
Once work in Italy was complete, renown fitter, Mike Lemire of Vermont handled the interior restoration. It is sumptuous, sporting and rich in nature all at the same time. The wonderful aroma of the leather, the fine craftsmanship and exquisite details all make this a place one wants to enjoy for long periods of time. The original Bakelite knobs with their wonderful lettering are a joy to behold.
Specifications include: 2,443 DOHC inline 6-Cylinder engine, three Weber carburetors. 110BHP at 4,800 RPM, 4 speed manual gearbox, 4 wheel hydraulic drum brakes, independent front suspension with coil springs, and a torsion bar rear suspension with trailing arms. These features as well as Alfa's history of sports/race cars all add up to a car with pedigreed road manners.
Chassis no. 915922 is clothed what is believed to be the exact shade of Merlot that it was wearing when delivered new in Hamburg, Germany. The paintwork has deep reflections, is very smooth and whether your looking at the inside of the hood, or the underside of the door, you will see the same, high quality finish work.
Credentials include: 2010 Mille Miglia (car #154), 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, 2016 Greystone Mansion Concours (Poster car as well as Director's Award),2017 Villa d'Este and the 2018 Chantilly Concours in France. Current FIVA passport.
