1982 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

Please read carefully....THE BUY IT NOW PRICE IS ONLY FOR THE BODY SHELL AND TITLE! Please contact if you want the car complete. The vehicle is in Tucson, Arizona and must be picked up by April 1st.Exceptional opportunity for the right person. I am a snowbird from Canada, retired mechanic and alfa fiend. I have restored a number of spiders and know the difference between a project, and a worthy project.....this is a VERY worthy project. Is it is a very desirable alfa as it is the one year only early, beautiful, series 2 body style with the reliable and easy to work on Bosch L-jetronic fuel system. Pre 82 cars have the spica system -Nightmare to fix/service- and 83 and up cars are the newer body style which IMO destroyed the clean, beautiful european look of the car.I am headed back to Canada from Tucson, AZ. in 2 weeks, where I have a small hobby restoration shop, but logistics, namely shipping costs make this car difficult to move back to Canada. I literally only bought it (non running, sitting for 7 years) for the Campagnolo wheels. I have spent the last while going through the whole car, interior stripped and here is the assesment.....Rust kills spiders.....this one is EXTRAORDINARILY clean of rust, I have looked everywhere..and I know where to look. I have partially disassembled/reassembled the car and stripped the interior and completely pulled out the carpets. The car is a true desert car......as good as you will find in terms of rust. One blister in the heel of the right fender.....that is it......see photo. Apart from the crease in the door (see pic) the car is really straight with minimal MINOR dings befitting a 35 year old car. I would rate the body condition as excellent. You could have the door damage repaired and proudly drive as is.....no kidding.I have checked and repaired/adjusted the brakes, clutch, suspension, steering, and all mechanical sytems are ready to drive right now.....I checked the engine compression and oil pressure (after prelube of course) and the engine internals are excellent. I checked the bores with a boroscope and they are still cross-hatched--perfect. Before firing it up, the compression was 125-130, and after running very briefly, went up to the 150 range. I suspect within a couple miles it will be like new.HOWEVER.......! The fuel was badly varnished from sitting which happens quickly in arid climates. I flushed the system, and then ran the engine (not too long) on quick start and it runs smoothly and oil pressure came up instantly...no noises, no smoke....nice. The fuel tank will need removal and cleaning before repair and flushing the fuel system. I do not have time to have this done here in Tucson as i am going home to Canada at the end of the month. I have ordered a replacement fuel pump and filter which will arrive next week......if i get the car running to drive on a gas can, the price goes up....quite a bit. Here is the deal......PLEASE. READ CAREFULLY!!!!!!!!If you want just the shell with clean title...anything yellow plus enough to make it roll and steer- (wheels excepted, i am taking them home) the price is 800.00 obo as shown as the buy it now price. I plan to strip the car and take the parts back to Canada, but am willing to sell it complete for a negotiated price. IF YOU WANT THE CAR COMPLETE OR SOME FORM OTHER THAN A BARE SHELL contact me through email and we can negotiate...but I do want to keep the wheels. FOR THE RIGHT PRICE I MAY BE CONVINCED TO INCLUDE THE CAMPAGNOLO WHEELS.I am a fair man and am regretfully selling this.......if i could get it home easily, I would never sell it. You do not find clean bodies like this at any price anymore. Ask anyone who has restored an alfa....everything is secondary to body condition. If you want an Alfa, this one will save you thousands in body work compared to most other project cars out there. The rundown..........GOOD THINGS......Floors, body, chrome, glass, badges, emblems, lenses, trim, carpetExhaust, suspension, steering, clutch, driveline, brakesEngine internalsTransmissionSteering wheel-wood, not fake woodHandles, locks, latchesConvertible top--cloth is nice...window gone, can be sewn in reasonable costBumpers! Impossible to find this clean!!.NO BUBBLING,DELAMINATION!80,000 miles
NEEDS ATTENTION:Convertible plastic windowDoor dentTop frameFuel system, flush, tank, and senderFront signal lensSeats....leather is bakedDash cracksPower windows not working...i will check these tomorrow.Shift knob, rear section of carpet, door panels missing,Cluth master cylinder operates correctly but plastic reservoir cracked.Door mirrors broken--buy chrome ones....early alfas look way better with chrome anyway.Needs one throttle linkage joint-easy fix. That is about it.....If you want to restore an Alfa spider, this is a GREAT place to start.
