1986 Alfa Romeo Spider

For sale is an '86 Alfa Romeo Graduate / Spider Convertible Roadster. The car is as beautiful as the pictures would have you believe and it ran terrifically....until it didn't. I believe it has an air intake problem -- I was driving down the road at 55mph one day and the engine just shut off. It turns over, but won't start. The reason I think it is an intake problem is that I know these cars can be finicky on the intake and I had a similar problem once before. The part that I think needs to be changed isn't available. I would love to continue to hunt for it and to work on getting the car running again, but I've got more on my plate at the moment than I have time for. I'd like this car to find a home so that it can be taken care of the way it deserves.
As for the history, my uncle restored it and drove it for many years. He restored many older cars -- mostly MGs and a beautiful old Morris. When it became difficult for him to continue working on cars, he was going to sell this one and I bought it from him. It had never left him on the side of the road in the years he had it -- though he obviously never put a ton of miles on it even in the years he had it. He did a great job restoring it -- while the car isn't quite a show car, it certainly turns heads. It's a lot of fun to drive! The black leather interior is in fantastic condition -- head to toe this car looks great!
With just a little know-how, the right person can get this car running again and purring down the road. NADA lists low retail at $7,550 average retail at $10,450 and high retail at $15,400 on this car. I'm asking $3900 OBO as-is. The title is clear. The car only has about 59,000 miles. The tires still have nubs.
The car is for sale as-is, where-is and would need to be picked up or shipped. It is located in the scenic Northern Catskill mountains in Stamford, NY. The car can be picked-up at your leisure, but a nonrefundable deposit of $500 will be due within 24 hours of an accepted offer to cover the nonrefundable selling fees incurred. The balance is due within 7 days thereafter via cash in person at my bank or via bank wire or cashier's check. I am more than happy to assist in coordinating shipping of the buyer's expense -- but please be aware that the car is yours once it leaves my property. You are welcome and encouraged to come and inspect it prior to buying.
