Looking for a flawless, concours-quality 1st-gen NSX? Not here. However, if you’re looking for The. Best. Example. of a track-prepared, street-legal NSX in the country, here it is. For Sale. At auction. No reserve. Bidding will open at $31,111. Kind of a dream-come-true for NSX enthusiasts. This isNSX Coupe #3112, the icon of Chin Motorsports. Berlina Black, Ivory seats, 1991. Original owner Kin M. 2nd owner Don N. I bought it from Don. This car has been owned by Chin Motorsports since 2006, and has been developed to a high level of track preparation, while still retaining complete interior, carpet, A/C, renowned NSX cockpit comfort, with perfectly clean title. The development of this car emphasizes road-course lap performance. There are some higher-HP NSXs that will go faster in a straight line. There are some cosmetically superior garage queen NSXs that have been rarely driven. But, it is unlikely that you will find a street-legal NSX anywhere that can achieve a better lap time at Sebring, Road Atlanta, Watkins Glen, Laguna Seca, Road America, and also looks this good. The odometer displays about 75,000 miles now. That is accurate. However, about 55,000 of the total are track miles. Accordingly, this car has been exceptionally well-cared for. It has received professional track preparation and meticulous OCD maintenance its entire life. About $100,000 has been spent in the last 10 years on service and upgrades. No exaggeration. The engine has been replaced. The original (NA1) 5-spd transmission has been replaced with a next generation (NA2) 6-speed, including flywheel and clutch. All suspension components have been replaced and upgraded. The brake system has been replaced and upgraded with standard-setting Brembos. Cosmetically, this car looks great. Yet, on close inspection, one can see signs of road rash/pitting on high-wear areas like behind the wheels, from serious track use. However, the front end does not show any road rash because it is fully protected under a clear bra. There are several minor random nicks and scuffs, as one might expect on a 75,000 mile car. This car has never been wrecked, but, it has had some maintenance paint and body work done over the years, to the nose and front fenders. The most notable cosmetic flaw is on the left front fender. It was painted several years ago, and then paint protection film applied. As the clear film has aged, it has shrunk slightly, and that has stretched the underlying paint layer, causing minor cracks around the fender edge. This condition only exists on that particular fender. All paint work from the A-pillars back, is original. A replacement LF fender is also included with the sale.
If one were to buy a used NSX today and prepare it to this level, it would take a year and a $75,000 build budget to get to this state. I’ve already done that hard work. Save yourself the time, trouble and expense by acquiring this car. This NSX is not perfect. Yet, it is awesome. And it is now for sale. Pre-sale inspection in person can be arranged if you’re in N.Ga. (Braselton). And for you NSX enthusiasts, who wonder how is it that I can possibly part with this car, don’t worry… I have another NSX!
