Description:

1970 Plymouth Barracuda Cuda

1970 Barracuda, originally a 318, 4 barrel, 4 speed car, manual steering, non AC EK2
(Vitamin C) car. We have the data plate, but no build sheet. Car was media blasted
and re-painted with PPG EK2. Trunk lid is an original AAR with the factory AAR
wing. Hood is an AAR Stinger fiberglass bolt on, with new hinges and AAR springs.
Hood pins are AAR push-through. Along with the new paint, the AAR graphics are a
3M carbon fiber wrap. (All wrap can be removed without damage to paint)
Under the hood is a 2012 5.7 from Challenger with factory rating of 385 HP and
approximately 60,000 miles. Cooling is done by Champion aluminum radiator with
dual fans. Exhaust starts TTI heat treated headers, 2.5 pipe, H-pipe and faux flow
masters.
Engine is managed by a Hemi Gold box. This is a very tunable system, plugs into
your laptop or whatever desire to tune. The system is tied to 02’s sensors, so you can
watch on an AFR gauge the current AFR ratio, or adjust fuel tables from the system.
Fan controls are set here as well. Right now I do get 22 miles to the gallon.
Transmission is a TKO-600 5 speed, which was sent to SilverSport Transmission for
an E-Body conversion and hydraulic clutch. With the E-body conversion, everything
lines up with factory location, meaning nothing was cut to do the swap. This has the
traditional original pistol grip shifter. A Quicktime scatter shield bolts to a new clutch
and aluminum flywheel.
Sub-frame connectors from USCar tool have been welded along with torque boxes.
Also, this car has a roll-bar welded in to help stiffen the chassis. (again no cutting of
the original steel)
Front end has new 1.06 PST torsion bars, new MOOG bushings, PST adjustable
camber adjusters, and factory sway bar. Upper control and lower control arms are
factory, lower has had stiffing plates welded in. All parts have been powder coated to
include K-frame. Front shocks are KYB’s with stopping power coming from
Wilwood disc brakes. Factory steering box was sent back to FirmFeel for a stage 2
rebuild.
Rear end has disc brakes, new sure grip and 4:10's all from Dr. Diff. The leaf springsare new from ESPO, along with adjustable height front and rear shackles. Shocks are
Cal-Tracks five stage adjustable with Hotchkis sway bar. As with the front end, all
parts have been powder coated.
Fuel system starts with a Tank’s Inc. fuel tank, high flow fuel pump with a ½ primary
fuel line system. (this will be good for up to 1200 hp)
For the interior, the dash has been sent to DashPlus, seats have been rebuilt, and the
rally gauges are digital by Dakota Digital. Front lights are HID's, and rears are digital
flashers as well. A new headliner is new as well.
Bumpers are factory original sent to a chrome to be re-chromed. All trim is factory,
not aftermarket.
Things people may not like (working through them, just not enough time in the day):
Small oil leak in the pan gasket – The original was used, and apparently needed to be
replaced (drives fine, just when it sits for a period, you get a small puddle)
Back seat – with the roll bar, bottom part of the seat is only the wire frame – needs to
be recovered.
Windows need to be adjusted
No radio – new speakers in back, but radio has not been installed
Digital speedometer needs to be adjusted
Door panels are original – the fronts have speakers holes cut in, one door has been
modified by someone also to fit 6x9’s
Heater box was bypassed when doing the conversion
Front seat belts are racing harnesses – When released, they hit the chrome/aluminum
door kick panels, ding them.
Carpet is not perfect
Missing driver door mirror
Missing windshield wiper arms (wipers work, just missing the arms)
