1978 Ford Bronco CUSTOM

VINTAGE 1979 FORD BRONCO CUSTOM 4x4

This is a nice old survivor bronco. This ford was owned by the same family until 2017. The original owners had a large ranch in Montana and Arizona. This bronco was a play vehicle for the daughter of the ranch owner. She used it alot for riding horses and hauling her saddle and tack. The top of the tailgate has scratches in the paint on one side, where the saddle was loaded/unloaded. This Bronco is very original, rust free, and runs/drives nice. The 1978-1979 broncos are personally my favorite. The 73-79 fords are just well built vehicles. TONS of restoration parts are available for them also which is nice. I'm sure you'll be happy with this bronco. I do have many more pics I can send also. This includes many undercarriage pics.Email me if your interested in doing something early on it. Thanks and happy bidding

MECHANICAL

This has the 6.6L 400 cubic inch V8 with C-6 automatic transmission and 4x4. This has the 2-barrel carburetor. The motor runs nice and quiet. It does not smoke or have any leaks. It does not miss. It starts up easily and runs smooth and runs cool. The transmission and brakes work as they should. This has power steering and brakes. No A/C. The fuel pump is new. There is no water in the oil, or oil in the water. All gauges and lights work. Heater, wipers, and cd player work. It is easy to get the parts to put this back to an original radio if you wish. The tires were new a couple years ago but it wasn't driven much after they were put on. They have tons of tread and drive nice but have some weather checking. I wouldn't personally worry about it but you can decide. I would go with a bigger tire myself but these are usable and good winter tires. The bronco drives straight and true. Some of the frontend has been rebuilt with polyurethane bushings. It doesn't wander or have any slack in the frontend. Ball joints and everything looks and feels tight. The dual exhaust is new and has either stock mufflers or turbo types. It sounds good and is relatively quiet. I have not decoded the trim tag but this appears to have the 3.50 gear ratio. It cruises nicely on the highway. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to change the fluids but the truck appears to have been well maintained so it really may not even need that done. The 4x4 works as it should. No abnormal clunking or anything. Overall, I don't see anything mechanical that needs replaced except the tires possibly. I do think they are usable but maybe not for daily freeway driving.

BODY

The body on the bronco is in very nice shape. No rust through, no pinholes even. The hood and roof paint was cooked off by the sun, but there is no rust through there or pinholes. It's easy to prep for paint. The body is clean, straight, and tight. A couple small dings but nothing I would call a dent. This bronco has the optional top with luggage rack and sliding side windows. The paint is original, and pretty worn. I would drive it myself as-is, but it is an easy one to paint and would look sweet with a new paint job. I have many other pics I can send also of the undercarriage, frame, rockers, floors, etc. It is a very dry truck, especially for a 1978 ford. The doors, hood, and tailgate work properly. Tailgate jam and tailgate have no rust either. The tailgate window is slow, which is common to these. I'm sure you can have the motor rebuilt for them or maybe rebuilt ones are available. The truck is tight and quiet when your driving it, and it's obvious that this wasn't a work truck. The hood needs adjusted a bit at the hinges. I think they put new hinges on it but didn't adjust the hood back right. It still closes fine and looks good but I would adjust the hood down in the back a bit.

INTERIOR

The interior is in good, original condition. The dashpad, gauge area, door panels, headliner, floormat, and rear seat are in good shape. Drivers side of the front seat has pretty good wear and will need recovered or a seat cover. Floormat is in nice shape and cargo area looks like it was used very little over the years. Cd works and has inputs for mp3, and maybe bluetooth but I'm not sure. It's easy to switch this back to an original radio. Parts are easy to buy new. Overall, the interior isn't perfect but pretty nice for an unrestored original. besides the front seat, I wouln't do much else to it unless your doing a high end restoration.

Thanks and happy bidding. This classic bronco is sold as-is.
