This 1938 Packard 1601 Convertible Coupe represents one of the finest designs of any car ever made; she is simple yet elegant and as Packard marketing used to say, "'Ask the Man Who Owns One"' - these are considered one of the great American cars. . Mechanically the car is sound; the engine has lots of power and compression, the gearbox is smooth through all the gears. In summary, the car is mechanically sound, the engine pulls strongly, the gears are good and the brakes work as they should; the car runs and drives well and is overall in solid condition,
The frame and undercarriage are straight and rust free. The all steel body panels as well as the doors, hood and trunk lid fit to OEM specifications. The repaint is of many years ago in Packard green with some surface cracks in the paint which has excellent luster. All brightwork was professionally re-chromed (Grill, bumpers, etc.), Four wide whitewall bias ply tires of the era (6.50x 16) are mounted to original Packard wheels with proper titled center caps. Glass is good with minimum blemish evident. The convertible top has been on the car for years and shows slight wear, but is totally serviceable with a rear window made of glass. The running boards are well detailed and the trunk is in excellent rust free condition.
The interior features a quality red vinyl bench seat with matching door panels that are excellent condition..Behind the seat you have special Jump seats factory fitted for added convenience. The dash and gauges are well detailed and the original Packard radio is the sound system; the steering whee! has been rebuilt.
