1974 Porsche 911 74 Carrera Targa, numbers matching

This auction is for a fully Restored/preserved excellent original, numbers matching 1974 Porsche Carrera Targa, in Salmon Metallic. Portland Trailblazer (Sidney Wicks) original ownership.

Carrera targa (#181) of 246 made in 1974 for the U. S. market. Vin number: 9114410181 and engine number: 6342002. Clean Oregon title and I’m the owner. This fine automobile is located in Portland, Oregon.

I have over 100 detailed pictures on an online photo album, that I can send to potential buyers, please get in touch and I will send them to you. I have aYouTubevideo as well The first owner was a Portland Trailblazer, professional basketball player (Sidney Wicks). The second owner purchased this Porsche around 1976/77 and I bought it and became the 3rd owner a year ago. Showing 92,500 original miles and is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. I spent countless hours and many thousands of dollars to restore this Porsche to a very high standard, while preserving as much of the original car as possible. The interior for example is 100% original I only had to clean and detail it.

Rebuilt Engine with appropriate upgrades: This is the factory numbers matching 2.7 liter engine. The engine has 92,500 miles but was rebuilt in 1980 at 53,548 miles. This was a complete rebuild which included new pistons and cylinders, rebuilt heads with new valves, all bearings etc. At that time a “carrera chain tensioner kit” was installed. Stainless steel heat exchangers were added in late 1996 when the car had 90,280 miles. I added a “pop-off valve” to the air box.

Recently this engine was removed and resealed and has no oil leaks, new spark plugs were installed, the fuel injectors were cleaned and tested, all engine fuel and vacuum lines were replaced as well as the oil and fuel filters, new fuel lines from the gas tank to the body lines and Brad Penn oil were added. A new engine sound pad was installed as well as engine compartment seals. The muffler was high temp powder coated and a new and correct black muffler tip was installed. The fuel pump was rebuilt. The ignition was timed. This engine is fantastic, starts right up, idles smooth and pulls hard all the way to redline.

The Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche shows that this Porsche Carrera came with the following options: Salmon Metallic paint, Deletion of Carrera stript on doors, Targa folding top, Bilstein shocks, Fog lights, Tinted glass, intermittent wipers, Bumpers with impact absorption, Cinnamon colored interior and U.S equipment.

Transmission and clutch: Shifts and operates beautifully and has no leaks. New shifter bushings were installed as well as Swepco fluid. The shifter and clutch were adjusted.

Brakes: New brake pads, fluid and lines, rebuilt calipers, discs are used but have very low wear and are well within specifications. Front brakes are factory aluminum units which I had rebuilt locally and the rears were restored and rebuilt by PMB brakes the best in the business, (see pics.).

Suspension: Original Bilstein’s which are operating very well, drives and handles very nice.

Tires: Good tread but are believed to be old and should be replaced. I didn’t do this to allow the buyer to pick their brand and size etc. and because European buyers have to discard U.S. tires which is a waste in my opinion.

Body: High quality complete paint job recently completed, including inside of doors, door jams, and front and rear hoods. The paint inside the wheel wells and the finishes on the floor boards, top and bottom are original aside from extensive cleaning (see pics.). The body was rust and damage free prior to painting. Some of the original cosmoline is still present on the suspension etc.

Electrical: New alternator, new Interstate battery, all lights are tested and are working, New old stock front headlight surrounds with a H4 bulb upgrade was added.

Interior: All original, including the beautiful seats, door panels, carpet, Carrera “sport” steering wheel, and no crack dash. I spent many hours cleaning and detailing the interior. The front leather seats were cleaned, conditioned and redyed in original color (custom blended) to address some scuffs with high quality products from Leatherique and I restitched the steering wheel. In the back parcel shelf area there is a period 70s dual speaker set (Clover industries) with Blaupunkt speakers and a Blaupunkt Am/Fm cassette, the radio and speakers work well. The Cassette player hasn’t been tested yet, I’ll try to remember to do that. There are period Coco mats on top of the factory floor mats, both of which are in good shape especially considering that this car is 42 years old and has over 90,000 miles.

Records: Original owner’s manual with selling dealer and first owner’s names (Sidney Wicks, warranty stamps, and some receipts from the second owner including the 1980 engine rebuild, I have a scanned copy that he emailed me, I’m still trying to get the originals. Also included are receipts for all the work that I had done, the paint job, and new parts that I purchased for the car.

Originality and completeness: Factory original and complete tool kit, owner’s manual, spare tire and wheel, jack, touch up paint, two keys that fit all the locks and the Hirschman antennae key. I also have and will include the Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche.
