Description:

1956 Chrysler New Yorker

Selling my 1956 Chrysler Texas surviver, it has been in my family since 1973. Itwas bought used at a closed Chrysler dealer auction out in west Texas. Story goes it was traded into the dealership in 1966 driven behind the dealership and parked left to sit thereuntil the auction. My father bought it, bleed out the brakes put a fresh battery in cleaned the points fired it up and drove it back to Waco Texas where it has remained. My father bought it as a parts car for his 1956 Imperial which was a family daily driver at the time. Fortunately for me he never stripped anything off of it and decided to give to me years ago.
I have too many cars in my family collection and it is time to find this VERY SOLID RUST FREEfantastic driving car a new home. It has always hadgarage storage during our 43 yr ownership. Now with this said the interior is presentable but was baked / dried out pretty good by the west Texas sun before dadacquired it. The right rear fender quarter panel also was involved in some sort of fenderbender and repaired some time before dad bought it, but it does not appear that it was very serious. This car has been off the road and sitting since 1998, however I recently rebuiltthe brake system with silicon brake fluid, cleaned out the fuel system, rebuiltcarburetor cleaned points and plugs. The powerflight transmission was completely rebuilt back in thelate 80's and hastraveled only about 12K miles since. Now with this said theshift cable seal hasdried out some from sitting andallows the transmission to leak if it sits to long. The engine and transmission run and shift strong with no known issues with exception of oil leaks caused by age. When rebuilding thebrake system Idiscovered thevacuum brake booster'sdiaphragm has rotted out with age. So no power boost, howeverbakes will stop the carwonderfully, just with a little more effort from the driver. Booster can be rebuilt by a company in California, however I just have not had the time to send the booster off to be rebuilt.
I will beglad to answer any and all questions you may have!
